About the Director

August Bailey, a native to the New Orleans and Northshore areas, began studying music at the age of 7.  As a classically trained pianist, he began to quickly develop a deep passion for the art of music and performance.  He studied jazz and pop performance on scholarship at the University of Memphis under the direction of Dr. Larry Edwards, while maintaining his role as the keyboard and piano player for Sound Fuzion, a university sponsored performance band. He later studied classical piano performance and education at Southeastern Louisiana University under the direction of Dr. David Evenson.  He has been teaching privately in the Mandeville area for over 17 years and has owned and directed The Music Academy For The Performing Arts since 2013.
